Spanish Bread

 





Ingredients:

Bread:

4 1/2 cup flour

2 tsp yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1 tsp sugar

2/3 cup warm milk

1 egg

2 egg yolks

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup margarine

1 1/2 tsp salt

bread crumbs

Filling:

1/2 cup margarine

1 cup white sugar

Directions:

1. Mix yeast, 1 tsp sugar and warm water in a bowl. Stir and let it rise for 5 minutes. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, add warm milk, egg and 2 egg yolks, flour, brown sugar, salt  and margarine. Mix all together then add the yeast mixture. Knead on a floured board until dough become elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until double in size.

3. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by mixing the margarine and sugar together.Set aside.

4. Once the dough rise, on a floured board, using a rolling pin, flatten the dough until 10 mm in size. Spread the filling in the middle avoiding the edge. Cut the dough in a triangle shape, roll the dough all the way through starting from the longer edge and make seal on the edges. Roll in breadcrumbs then place in a greased baking pan. 

5. Cover the baking pan with a cling wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.

6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 15 minutes or until light brown.
