Crispy Donut Balls (Awamma)

 



Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1 tsp instant yeast

2 cups water

1/4 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp salt

Oil for deep frying

Sugar syrup

Directions:

Mix the flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Add water and mix thoroughly until smooth dough is formed. Set aside to rise for 1 hour.

Heat oil in a deep pan. Using two spoons, scoop the batter and use the other spoon to drop in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and remove with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towel.

Dip the donut balls into a cold sugar syrup and serve on a serving platter. Best serve while hot.

Sugar Syrup:

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

juice of half lemon

2 tbsp rose water or orange water

Add sugar and water in a medium pot, let it boil for 5 minutes without stirring, add lemon juice and keep boiling for another 3 minutes. Remove from heat then add rose water. Keep it aside to cool.
