Orange Chicken

 





Ingredients:

500 g boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite size pieces

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

2 eggs, beaten

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp ground pepper

1 1/2 cup water

4 tbsp orange juice

2 tbsp cornstarch

1/4 cup vinegar

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tsp grated ginger

salt and pepper, to taste 

1/2 cup green onions, chopped , to garnish

cooking oil, for frying

Directions:

 Mix the flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper and mix well. Beat the egg and season with salt and pepper. Dip the chicken pieces in the beaten egg mixture and coat with the flour mixture. Heat the oil in the pan, and dip fry the chicken pieces for about 5 minutes or until color turns golden brown.

In a pan, combine water, orange juice, soy sauce, vinegar and bring to a boil. Add minced garlic and grated ginger and simmer for 5 minutes. Add sugar and continue simmering for another 5 minutes until sugar dissolved. Dilute cornstarch in 2 tbsp water and add to the mixture. Mix well. Season with salt and pepper. Add the deep fried chicken to the pan and cook until sauce nearly evaporates. Put on the serving platter and garnish with green onions.
